Measurements for qualifications: The students are selected
through auditions for talent and through interviews for motivation
and dedication
• Minimum age of applicants: 16 years
TEACHERS
• West African masters of culture will lead their respective courses
• Visiting teachers will initially lead the courses in European disciplines
• There will be a mutual training scheme for teachers.
AFTER GRADUATION
• A professional practitioner in West African Culture
• Partners in collaborative artwork, exchange-programs etc.
• A professional Teacher in West African Culture
COURSE PROGRAMS
Foundation Course 1 year
Writing and reading notes, foreign rhythm – patterns, English
Undergraduate (Ba) 3 years
Subjects: music, dance, drama, storytelling, philosophy, physical education, non-African music theory and practice, pedagogy, collaborative work, sound engineering.
OVERSEAS STUDENTS
Foundation course of 2 months
Learning about African Culture, music, dance, language and philosophy.
Undergraduate (Ba)
The students can choose from modules of: Wollof, Mandinka, Fula, Jola, Susu, dance, music, drama, storytelling and history
Post graduate (Ma) and Research
In dept studies and research in one tradition or one discipline.
Exchange and other courses
ECCO will also offer 3 weeks introduction courses for groups of 10 in West African music, dance and culture
